Introduction

PropertyHunt.ae ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we obtain it, how we use, share and otherwise process it when you use our platform (the Website and any mobile applications, together the "Platforms").

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time; the version posted on the Platforms is the current version.

The information we collect

We act as a data controller for the personal information we collect about you. "Personal information" means any information that identifies you or can be linked to you.

The types of information we may collect include (but are not limited to):

  • Identity & contact data: name, email, phone number, postal address, nationality, residency information, date of birth, identity document identifiers (where voluntarily provided).
  • Account & registration data: account details you create, profile information, preferences and communications you send to us.
  • Device & usage data: IP address, browser and device identifiers, pages visited, time and date of access, browsing activity and referral sources.
  • Listing & enquiry data: details you provide when enquiring about a property (for example when you contact an advertiser), messages, recordings or attachments you send us.
  • Transaction & payment data: payment instrument (card) details and billing address where you make purchases; note that card data is handled in accordance with our payment provider’s security rules and may not be stored by us.
  • Financial data (where relevant): payslips, salary letters, credit-related information and other documents you provide when applying for mortgages or finance services via partners (only collected where directly relevant and with appropriate safeguards).
  • Other data: any other information you choose to provide (for example via social media, WhatsApp or support requests).
How we obtain your information

We collect information directly from you (for example, when you register, contact us, enquire about a property, submit documents or use our Platforms). We may also obtain information from:

  • Advertisers, agents, developers and brokers who list properties on our Platforms;
  • Affiliates, partners and service providers who assist in delivering our services;
  • Publicly available sources and government registries (where applicable); and
  • Advertising networks, analytics providers and other third parties that help us measure and improve Platform performance.
How we use your information

We use your personal information for purposes including:

  • Providing and improving our Platforms and services;
  • Processing enquiries and facilitating introductions between you and advertisers (agents, owners, developers);
  • Processing payments and managing transactions;
  • Communicating with you (service messages, support, marketing where permitted);
  • Conducting market research and improving user experience; and
  • Complying with legal and regulatory obligations.
Legal bases for processing

Where applicable data protection law requires, we rely on one or more of the following to process your personal information:

  • Performance of a contract (e.g., to provide the services you request);
  • Your consent (where we ask for and you give consent for a specific purpose);
  • Our legitimate interests (for example to operate and improve the Platforms, provide tailored content and protect against fraud);
  • Compliance with legal obligations; or
  • Where you have made the information public.
Who we share your information with

We disclose personal information only for the purposes described and where necessary to provide services. Typical recipients include:

  • Advertisers, agents, developers or owners for enquiries you make about a Listing;
  • Service providers and suppliers (hosting, analytics, payment processors, communication platforms);
  • Affiliates, business partners and professional advisers;
  • Competent authorities where required by law or to protect rights; and
  • Prospective buyers or sellers in a business transfer scenario (e.g., sale of the business).

Our third-party providers are contractually restricted from using your personal information for other purposes.

International transfers

Your information may be stored and processed in jurisdictions different from your own, including countries without the same level of data protection. Where transfers occur, we use appropriate safeguards (for example standard contractual clauses or equivalent measures) to protect your information.

Security of your information

We implement reasonable organisational and technical measures to protect personal information from unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration or destruction. Access is limited to employees, contractors and service providers who need it to perform their roles. However, transmission over the internet is not completely secure — any transmission is at your own risk.

How long we keep your information

We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this Policy, to meet legal or regulatory obligations, or to resolve disputes. Retention periods will vary depending on the category of information and the reason for processing.

Your rights

Depending on local law, you may have rights in relation to your personal information, such as the right to:

  • Access a copy of your personal data;
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • Request erasure of personal data where no longer necessary;
  • Request restriction of processing;
  • Object to processing for direct marketing or where processing is based on legitimate interests;
  • Receive personal data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format (data portability); and
  • Withdraw consent where we rely on consent for processing.
